Corporate Social Responsibility
Ceres Power is committed to building a high growth business while ensuring a safe environment for employees and minimising impact on the environment. We aim to understand and respond to the needs of shareholders, employees, customers, suppliers, the communities in which we work and the wider public.
Our mission remains to make a major contribution towards the challenge of addressing climate change by providing cleaner, more efficient and decentralised energy products.
Safety
Ceres Power remains committed to achieving and maintaining the highest standards in health and safety practice. We work positively to create an open culture towards HSE and to engage all employees in helping maintain our excellent safety record. We invest in specialist roles and systems to support this process.
The Company is accredited with the British Safety Council as a training centre in health and safety. We continue to commission regular reviews of our health and safety arrangements by independent external practice experts to ensure that we benefit from wider industry developments and secure continuous improvement in this area.
Employee development and retention
The Group aims to recruit the best talent, acting as an equal opportunities employer at all times and ensuring that our staff remain safe from discrimination and harassment in the workplace. We invest in the training and development of our staff to build the required skills to succeed as a business. On average, we invested more than twice the national average per head on workârelated training in 2010.
A third ‘Save As You Earn’ share scheme, open to all employees, was launched in 2011, enabling staff to share in the future success of the business and directly aligning the interests of employees and shareholders.
Environmental and community awareness
Ceres complies with all relevant environmental laws and we implement best environmental practice in all of our activities. We seek to recycle in all areas – from office supplies to water consumption. We actively support cycling and car sharing and prioritise public over personal transport. We seek to be a valued member of the community and consult locally on the possible impact of our operations, as well as informing the community on the type of employment opportunities we bring to the local area.
Ethical standards
Ceres Power actively strives to achieve high ethical standards in allactivities. We seek to ensure that our business partners apply similarly high standards, including our supply chain and customers. During the year we reviewed and updated our policy in this area and implemented a training programme to embed this with all staff.
