Platform Technology
The Fuel Cell Module is Ceres Power's platform technology that forms the basis of our approach to product design, and can be used within multiple product variants to address diverse market applications. It can be incorporated within a range of new products through modular design and use of appropriate balance of plant components. Ceres Power's technology has considerable potential to expand beyond the Company's core market for residential natural gas CHP using a common platform and customising products tailored for specific markets.
Fuel Cell
The patented Ceres fuel cell is a metal-supported solid state electro-chemical device comprised of thin electro-chemical layers deposited onto a stainless steel substrate, designed to generate electricity and heat directly from fuel and air. Unlike the combustion process in an engine-driven generator, this solid state process is highly efficient, environmentally friendly and quiet. Its operating temperature range of 500-600oC is ideally suited to combined heat and power applications.
Fuel Cell Stack
The fuel cell stack is a layered construction of metal supported fuel cells separated by stainless steel interconnects which enable fuel and air to flow to either side of each fuel cell. The unique construction of welded sub-assemblies and gasket seals provides integrity and durability.
Fuel Cell Module
The fuel cell module is an 'electro-chemical engine' which generates electricity and heat from fuel and air. It is a compact and thermally integrated assembly, providing a common platform for a range of high efficiency products operating on a variety of fuels. The fuel cell module forms the core of the residential combined heat and power product and is a common technology platform for a range of aligned products.
