Ceres Power hosts G8 Energy Delegation

May 13, 2005: An international delegation from as far afield as China, Canada and Brazil visited the Sussex headquarters of AIM-listed Ceres Power today to learn about the company’s world leading fuel cell technology.

The visit, organised under the current British presidency of the G8 Summit, forms part of a week-long workshop in the UK to encourage international collaboration in the development of new and greener sources of energy.

Ceres Power’s breakthrough fuel cell technology is helping to address key geopolitical issues facing the UK and the global community - including security of energy supply, climate change, and sustainable economic growth.

Fuel cells generate electricity and heat when gas is passed over one surface and air over the other. They have the potential to deliver dramatic economic and environmental benefits by being highly fuel efficient, quiet and much lower in emissions than current technologies.

The Ceres team has spent more than 12 years developing its revolutionary technology. The Ceres fuel cell, unlike most others, runs on natural gas as well as hydrogen and does not need platinum as a catalyst. It can be manufactured using inexpensive materials and mass production techniques.

The G8 visit follows other high-level interest and support the company has received from the UK government, with Prime Minister Tony Blair describing Ceres as a “world leader”.
