The Context:

At Ceres Power, it is our vision to bring cheaper, cleaner energy to businesses, homes and transport around the world.  Our ground-breaking work makes a real difference. Our aim is to enable the global energy transition by embedding our unique technology in the products of world-class companies.  Recognised as a sector leader, Ceres Power’s SteelCell® is well positioned to take a significant share of a number of multi-billion dollar markets.  We are in this unique position because our people are as dynamic, flexible and innovative as our technology.

This is an exciting time for an extraordinary and progressive People leader to come on board and help lead the next phase of our growth. We are looking for someone who will partner with the leaders of the business to shape the People infrastructure and culture needed to attract the very best talent and to realise our global ambitions.  We have the opportunity to become one of the best technology companies in the country and this role is pivotal to that.

The Role:

The role has responsibility for the full spectrum of People & Organisation Development activity - from recruitment and employee relations, through to reward, engagement, communication and development - and is supported by a small People team. A component of this key position will be developing our leadership, change management and internal communication capabilities.

There will be a particular emphasis in the first two years on developing and implementing a talent and people management strategy fit for Ceres Power’s growth trajectory. There is a job to do to make sure we can attract, engage and harness talent, making Ceres Power a place the very best people continue to want to build their careers.

The Candidate:

We are looking for someone with confidence and experience dealing with the more traditional HR challenges as well as those relating to change in an entrepreneurial business.  You will be intellectually agile and an independent thinker, able to influence at the most senior levels.  You will also be pragmatic and action oriented, tuned into the day to day operations of the company.

We are looking for the following experiences and strengths:

  • It is likely you have experience as an HR / People Director in a small or medium sized business already. If not, then certainly Senior HR Management experience.
  • Importantly, you will have led people-related change at the most senior level
  • You will have an impressive range of generalist HR experiences in commercial organisations, with a strong talent leaning and ideally experience of working internationally
  • To flourish in this role, you will need to be resilient, focused, a strong communicator and able to work with a broad range of people
  • We are not looking for someone who thinks only about conventional HR best practice. We want to bring someone into the team who is interested in more progressive ways of working in a truly modern company
  • Finally, an interest in science or experience in the science/technology/engineering sectors would be an advantage.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits.  It is envisaged this will be a 4-5 day per week role.
